How to Change Wireless Password on netis WF2411

Sometimes we don’t want others to use your wireless network then you can set a password for your wireless network

The Steps are as below:
 
Part One: Upgrade the Firmware of your netis router to the latest version.
 
Notice before upgrade:
  1. Please download the latest firmware from netis website.

The firmware file is saved in ZIP format. Please use decompression software such as WinZip to extract the firmware file to a folder.
  1. Do NOT upgrade the firmware via wireless connection. Please connect the computer to netis router through Ethernet cable.
  2. Do NOT turn off the power or cut down the Ethernet cable during the upgrade process.
  3. Internet Explorer (IE) is the recommended browser to upgrade the firmware.
Step 1 Open the web browser and type the IP address of the router (default: 192.168.1.1) into the address bar, then press Enter.



Note: The address 192.168.1.1 is NOT on the Internet. The web-based configuration page is built into the router. 
 
Step 2 Click System Tools->Firmware Upgrade, and then click Browse... to select the new firmware you saved in the local folder.


 
Step 3 Click Upgrade to upload the firmware.
 


The router will reboot automatically after the upgrading has been finished. Please wait 2 minutes.


 
Step 4 After rebooting, you may login to the page again. You will see a new UI image which brought by the new firmware.
It is recommended to reset the device to factory default so as to make all the new functions take effect.
Click Advanced button on the top, you will see the main interface of the new firmware.



Part Two:  Configure steps.
Method one, Changed wireless password on Quick Setup.
You can change wireless password on Quick Setup page if you do not want change its Authentication Type, Encryption Type, Key Mode, or you can go Advanced page to change them.

 

Method two, Changed wireless password on Advanced.
Click Advanced button on the top and go to Wireless->Wireless Settings, you can choose the Authentication Type, Encryption Type, Key Mode, then set a new password which is at least 8 characters for your wireless network and click Save button.
 
Note:
  1. When the WPS is enabled, please not use WEP encryption type.
  2. The default wireless password is “password”.
  3. The default wireless SSID is “netis”, also you can change it.

 
 When it shows “Saved Successfully!” you can use your wireless device to search the netis wireless signal, and input the new wireless password you just set in the first page and click connect. When the network shows connected, you can go to internet wirelessly.
